About
About Harmattan AI
Harmattan separates autonomy into a platform layer that flies and controls each vehicle and a mission layer that coordinates assets around an operator’s intent. This allows several aircraft, sensors and effectors to work as a distributed system while retaining human authority over mission goals and engagement decisions.
Its named systems cover different parts of that chain. Gobi and Kalahari address aerial interception and short-range air defence, Sahara carries synthetic-aperture radar for ISR, and Sonora provides a reusable aircraft for training and readiness. Harmattan also develops mission-management and electronic-warfare payloads rather than relying on one universal airframe.

- 2026-10-07 - Partnership - Harmattan AI and Morocco sign letter of intent for IRIFI development
Harmattan plans a factory near Casablanca and intends to develop and manufacture critical technologies in Morocco. The programme follows the June 2026 partnership covering domestic production, a Rabat research centre and collaboration with higher-education institutions.
Source - 2026-10-06 - Product Launch - Harmattan AI unveils IRIFI autonomous deep-strike system
Onboard navigation and processing are designed to maintain mission execution when satellite navigation or communications are degraded. Human commanders select targets and set mission parameters before authorising launch; the system then executes within those limits.
Source - 2026-09-16 - Contract Award - Evolve Dynamics supplies FOXE-NATO drones in UK Army procurement
Evolve Dynamics is supplying 245 sub-250 g FOXE-NATO aircraft with infrared night capability. Marlborough Communications is supplying 670 Skydio X10 INTL aircraft, while Brigantes Consulting and Harmattan AI are supplying 110 SONORA training drones. Deliveries are nearing completion under Project Rapstone, the Army’s faster equipment-introduction programme.
Source - 2026-09-14 - Partnership - Harmattan AI signs autonomous air-defence letter of intent with Iraq
The letter sits within a broader France–Iraq roadmap for potential defence acquisitions. Harmattan’s Gobi and Gobi Tempest systems are kinetic counter-UAS interceptors, but the letter does not name a firm platform order. The Iraqi government stated its intention to support further discussions with French suppliers on air-defence systems.
Source - 2026-07-20 - Contract Award - Valeo selected to develop and manufacture Harmattan AI drone motors
The motor avoids heavy rare-earth materials. Valeo describes the award as its first contract in the drone sector. The motor is intended for civil and defence drone applications.
Source - 2026-07-13 - Demonstration - Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI demonstrate NAMIB EW payload with Rafale F4
NAMIB detected, identified and geolocated an electromagnetic emitter several dozen kilometres away, then transmitted the radar position to the Rafale for a simulated strike. The lightweight payload is designed for quadcopters and fixed-wing UAS, extending electronic-support and targeting functions to autonomous aircraft. The demonstration follows the companies' January 2026 strategic partnership to integrate autonomous capabilities into next-generation air combat.
Source - 2026-06-23 - Contract Award - France orders 5,000 Harmattan AI soldier drones
The drones are scheduled for delivery to the French army no later than early 2027. The order follows an initial batch of 1,000 Harmattan AI drones delivered in January 2026. Harmattan AI was founded in 2024 and counts Dassault Aviation among its investors.
Source - 2026-01-12 - Funding - Harmattan AI raises $200M Series B led by Dassault Aviation
Dassault Aviation led Harmattan AI's $200M Series B as part of a broader strategic partnership announced by both companies. The deal pairs Harmattan's autonomy stack with Dassault's future air combat programs, including Rafale F5 and UCAS, particularly around controlled autonomy for unmanned aerial systems. The round funds deployment expansion, product-line extension, and industrial manufacturing scale across Harmattan's ISR, drone interception, and electronic warfare platforms.
Source - 2025-10-02 - Partnership - Harmattan AI and Skyeton announce strategic partnership around Raybird UAS capabilities
Harmattan AI and Skyeton announced a strategic partnership focused on integrating Harmattan's military sensor technology with Skyeton's Raybird UAS. The collaboration combines Raybird's long-endurance battle-proven platform with Harmattan's sensors, industrialization expertise, and European assembly capacity to support mission-critical operations. The partnership extends Harmattan's product relevance beyond its own surfaced systems and ties its sensor and autonomy layer to an already deployed allied UAS platform.
Source - 2025-09-10 - Award - Harmattan AI secures UK Ministry of Defence program for delivery of up to 3,000 UAS
Harmattan AI said it would deliver autonomous systems under a multi-million program led by the UK Ministry of Defence. The program covers up to 3,000 units scheduled for near-term deployment to meet urgent operational needs. The award is Harmattan's second major program of record in under 18 months and shows real government demand for scalable autonomous systems rather than prototype-only interest.
Source - 2025-07-03 - Contract Award - Harmattan AI wins multi-million NATO-government program of record for AI-enabled small drones
Harmattan AI said it was awarded a multi-million-U.S.-dollar contract by a NATO government for delivery of AI-enabled small drones. The company said the system was developed entirely in-house and scheduled for delivery in mid-October, positioning it as an autonomous, scalable, and conflict-ready platform. The award moved Harmattan from startup status into prime-contract execution just over a year after founding, providing early government validation of its defence systems model.
