About KDDI Corporation

KDDI Corporation combines mobile and fixed communications with data-centre, cloud and network infrastructure. Its All-Photonics Network and GPU services are being tested as a distributed compute layer for physical-AI systems, where inference latency and data movement affect robot responsiveness.

The company also operates dedicated robotics and mobility subsidiaries. This profile tracks the parent infrastructure layer and dated public trials that connect networks, compute and robots.

Team

  • Hiromichi Matsuda - President, Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer - Leads KDDI’s telecommunications, cloud and digital-infrastructure group.

Timeline

Events

  • 2026-09-18 - Demonstration - KDDI starts distributed-compute physical-AI trial with retail robot

The trial connects KDDI’s Osaka Sakai data centre and Tama Network Centre through an All-Photonics Network and uses Morgenrot GPU virtualisation. Remote inference is compared with compute placed at 0 km, 20 km or more, 50 km or more and 500 km from the robot. The consortium is testing whether distributed compute can retain the response performance required for physical-AI tasks while reducing dependence on a single data-centre location.
