Leuze supplies photoelectric sensors, identification systems, machine-vision products and certified safety devices for factory automation. Its RSL safety laser scanners repeatedly sweep a defined area and compare measured objects with configured warning and protective fields. If a person or obstacle enters the safety zone, the scanner signals the vehicle or machine controller to slow or stop before contact.

RSL 200 scanners cover 275 degrees and can protect mobile robots from two diagonally mounted positions, while the larger RSL 400 reaches protective fields of up to 8.25 metres and can store many switchable field sets. Measurement data can also support navigation and localisation alongside the certified safety output. Integrators configure the fields around vehicle speed, braking distance, load and direction of travel, then connect the scanner through industrial safety interfaces.
