About Noetra
Noetra organises a joint model-development programme drawing engineers from its member companies and research partners, including AIST and Preferred Networks. Sony, SoftBank, NEC and Honda are core members. The initial research stage targets Japanese-language understanding, logical reasoning and instruction following, creating a foundation for later multimodal and physical-AI work.
Its roadmap calls for an omni-modal model handling text, images, video and audio by fiscal 2028, followed by work on spatial and physical understanding for real-world systems toward fiscal 2030. Model releases are planned in stages. Development begins on computing infrastructure operated by Japanese providers, while a planned NVIDIA Rubin facility has construction scheduled for April 2027 and operation targeted for June 2028.

Noetra aims to develop its robot-control Physical AI technology around fiscal 2030. Kawasaki is also an investor in Noetra, connecting the proposed robotics integration with its existing backing of the AI developer.

The planned system is specified with 13,750 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and 27,500 Rubin GPUs on the NVIDIA DSX platform. Noetra will establish the AI factory as the computing foundation for Japan’s METI-supported FRONTia physical-AI project. The partners said pretrained multimodal-model weights will be shared with domestic developers and enterprises for agents, digital twins and robotics applications.
