About Notch

Notch develops electronically controlled antennas that change the direction of radio energy without a mechanically steered dish. Its metamaterial architecture can form and redirect beams, maintain links as a vehicle changes orientation and reduce interference by placing nulls toward unwanted signals. This gives a mobile platform more control over its communications pattern than a conventional omnidirectional antenna.

Products such as MAGIC ELF target drones, ground robots and autonomous vehicles with low mass and power consumption. The MAGIC ELF unit operating across 1.5–2.7 GHz weighs about 250 g, consumes under 600 mW and switches its beam in approximately 16 ms, with UART and Ethernet control interfaces. Integrators connect the antenna to their radio and navigation system, allowing onboard software to steer connectivity toward another vehicle, ground station or satellite as the mission changes.
