About Stout Industrial Technology
Stout Industrial Technology develops software-defined agricultural equipment in Salinas, California. Founded in 2019, the company commercialised its first Smart Cultivator in 2020. The tractor-drawn implement uses the Stout True Vision camera and neural-network system to distinguish crops from weeds, control mechanical blades and collect plant-level information during field passes.
Stout designs its equipment for commercial farm operation, including sealed electronics, onboard computing and a PTO-driven hydraulic system isolated from the tractor's electrical and hydraulic circuits. By April 2025, the company reported Smart Cultivators operating across six countries and three continents, with more than 60,000 acres covered and three billion plants scanned.
