About Smart Cultivator
Stout Smart Cultivator is a software-defined tractor implement for row-crop weeding and cultivation. The Stout True Vision system captures colour images, applies a neural network to locate crops and weeds and converts detections into timing commands for mechanical blade assemblies. A self-tuning vision system, seed-line tracking, automatic bed-height control and adjustable blade geometry support work across changing light, soil and plant conditions.
The machine uses a 1,000 rpm tractor PTO and three-point hitch, with its own hydraulic pump and no tractor electrical or hydraulic connection. Stout states that it clears one to two acres per hour depending on soil conditions and reports a 99.99% plant-recognition figure. Commercial deployment began in 2020; by April 2025, Stout reported more than 60,000 acres and three billion plants scanned across production farms in six countries.
