About Theseus
Theseus Cyclops compares live electro-optical or long-wave infrared imagery from an aircraft with pre-generated maps derived from satellite or aerial data. Inertial measurements constrain the search, while the visual-matching software estimates the aircraft’s location and sends a passive position fix to the flight controller through MAVLink. The method does not emit a navigation signal that an adversary can detect or jam.
Cyclops can run on compact onboard computers including Raspberry Pi 5 and NVIDIA Jetson hardware. Theseus reports flight tests at altitudes around 1.1 kilometres and routes exceeding 100 kilometres, with location errors below approximately 50 metres in selected trials. Aircraft developers integrate the software with their existing camera, inertial sensor, autopilot and stored terrain data as an additional navigation source when GNSS is unavailable or untrusted.
