About Westwood Robotics
Westwood Robotics develops humanoid platforms and the BEAR family of back-drivable, torque-sensing actuators. THEMIS is its full-size general-purpose humanoid, shown performing mobile manipulation, housekeeping and hazardous-waste handling, while BRUCE is a child-size open platform developed with RoMeLa for research and education.
BEAR actuators combine live compliance, integrated torque sensing and high torque density across several size classes. The range runs from the 250-gram Koala BEAR for end effectors and small legged robots to Mountain and Kodiak units for high-load humanoids and industrial manipulators. Westwood provides manuals, 3D models and open hardware and software resources for platform development.
