Cosmic-1A
About
About Cosmic-1A
Cosmic-1A is the first construction-scale robot in Cosmic Robotics’ hardware roadmap, developed initially for terrestrial solar-farm installation. The company reports that the Cosmic-1 programme reached twice the labour productivity of manual methods in its field workflow, providing a supervised-autonomy test bed for high-power electric construction machinery.
Cosmic’s wider architecture separates the physical machine, a high-frequency controller, an edge reasoning layer and Constellation mission-control software. The long-term goal is autonomous construction for lunar and Martian infrastructure, but the current evidence is terrestrial and development-stage. This profile therefore distinguishes the existing solar-construction work from future 300-kilowatt-class machines and city-scale coordination concepts described in the roadmap.

Timeline
- SEED Innovations invests $350,000 in Cosmic Robotics through SAFE
2026-07-16 - Funding - The SAFE is uncapped and undiscounted, with most-favoured-nation terms tied to Cosmic Robotics participation in Y Combinator. Cosmic Robotics is using the capital for product development, commercial deployment and operational scaling. The company is focused first on utility-scale solar installation with Cosmic-1A, an autonomous robot for handling and installing large-format solar panels.
Source - SunRobi becomes first certified Cosmic Robotics operator
2026-02-03 - Deployment - SunRobi became the first certified operator of Cosmic Robotics autonomous solar installation systems after live U.S. project deployments. SunRobi is the robotic-assisted construction division of Sunstall. The certification followed multiple Cosmic-1A deployments on live solar projects in the United States.
Source - Cosmic Robotics raises $4 million for solar construction robots
2025-04-19 - Funding - Cosmic Robotics raised $4 million to build AI-powered mobile manipulation robots for utility-scale solar construction. The round was led by Giant Ventures with participation from MaC Venture Capital and HCVC. Cosmic-1A is built to work with solar installation crews on physically demanding panel installation tasks.
