CLAWS

CLAWS is an autonomous field robot that combines crop scouting with targeted light-based weed treatment. Eight onboard cameras identify plants and collect crop observations as the machine travels through a field. Earth Rover's FIELD software turns those observations into a digital representation of the farm, giving growers a plant-level view of crop condition and supporting treatment decisions. Battery and solar power are intended to sustain autonomous operation by day and night.

Its Lightweeder directs a concentrated pulse at a weed's meristem, disabling growth without disturbing the surrounding soil or applying herbicide. Earth Rover says the treatment method has been tested with NIAB. CLAWS remained at a controlled introduction stage in 2026: access was offered through a pioneer-farm programme, and unrestricted off-the-shelf availability was not established. Performance and operating economics will therefore depend on crop, field conditions and the results of those early deployments.
