About EchoShield

EchoShield is Echodyne's medium-range, software-defined pulse-Doppler radar for tracking airborne and surface objects. Its metamaterials electronically scanned array steers beams without a mechanically rotating antenna and returns range, angle and velocity measurements at a 10-hertz track-update rate. The radar can follow hundreds of objects and applies classification software to distinguish target types, with track data exposed to command, sensor-fusion and cueing systems over network interfaces.

The Ku-band unit covers a configurable field of view up to 130 degrees in azimuth and 90 degrees in elevation. Echodyne specifies angular track accuracy below 0.5 degrees, a 19.2-kilogram weight and operating power below 250 watts. It can be installed at a fixed site, on a moving platform or in portable and temporary kits. Multiple units can share tracks across a network; actual tracking range varies by object size, aspect, environment, waveform and installation, so published typical ranges are not universal detection guarantees.

Timeline

  • Echodyne and ACS sign radar and Bullfrog collaboration

2026-10-12 - Partnership - EchoShield provides drone position and velocity tracks through open interfaces into Bullfrog and command-and-control systems. The companies will continue integrated testing and participate in Department of War demonstrations. The collaboration covers fixed sites, mobile and expeditionary forces, and maritime platforms.
