Gray Eagle Extended Range
About
About Gray Eagle Extended Range
Gray Eagle Extended Range is GA-ASI’s higher-capacity derivative of the baseline Gray Eagle for persistent Army reconnaissance, communications relay and weapons delivery. The GE-ER raises maximum takeoff weight to 1,905 kilograms, uses a 180-horsepower heavy-fuel engine and carries 408 kilograms of internal fuel. Its published performance reaches 42 hours of endurance, 29,000 feet and 167 KTAS.
A deeper fuselage and 227-kilogram centreline hardpoint increase fuel and payload options, while the internal payload allowance is 181 kilograms. The open architecture supports electro-optical and infrared sensing, synthetic-aperture radar, ground-moving-target indication and communications relay, with four Hellfire missiles listed as a weapons fit. Automatic takeoff and landing, Common Data Link and satellite communications retain the family’s Army operating model without collapsing GE-ER into the baseline or 25M records.

Timeline
- GA-ASI flight-tests SNC electronic-support system on Gray Eagle ER
2026-10-15 - Demonstration - The small-form-factor ESM is designed to detect hostile integrated air-defence systems beyond their weapon-engagement zones. Gray Eagle’s open architecture accommodates the modular sensing upgrade. The capability supports crewed–uncrewed teaming and follows earlier exercise demonstrations of other Gray Eagle upgrades.
