Orchard GUSS

About

About Orchard GUSS

Orchard GUSS is an autonomous airblast sprayer developed by GUSS Automation for commercial tree crops. The driverless machine combines a 600-gallon stainless-steel material tank, 36-inch fan and 32-nozzle spray manifold with individually controlled shutoffs. Its 173 hp John Deere diesel engine powers a four-wheel-drive chassis with four-wheel steering. Standard, narrow and low-impact tyre configurations adapt the vehicle to different orchard conditions.

GPS, lidar and vehicle sensors guide Orchard GUSS along mapped rows beneath tree canopies. Operators configure spray nozzles, travel speed, pump pressure, material flow and refill routes before supervising the job from a laptop. One operator can monitor up to eight GUSS machines, receiving position, spray-rate and diagnostic information. The 90-gallon fuel cell supports a stated 13–14 hours of operation. Machines are manufactured in Kingsburg, California and sold and serviced through John Deere dealers.
