About Panda Robot

Panda Robot, named Youyou, is UBTECH's panda-shaped humanoid developed for the China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. Built using technology from the Walker programme, it greeted visitors and provided exhibition interaction, including Chinese calligraphy and painting. Its curved-screen eyes, expressive lighting and panda appearance support its role as a cultural presentation robot.

The 1.3-metre, 63-kilogram biped has 41 powered joints, articulated hands and a removable battery. U-SLAM navigation, visual perception and whole-body balance support movement through its operating space, while coordinated force and position control enable handwriting and drawing. Voice, vision, touch and movement contribute to visitor communication, guided explanations and performances. Youyou is a customized exhibition system, with its identity tied to that pavilion project.
