Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL UAS

About

About Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL UAS

Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL is a Redwire uncrewed aircraft that combines vertical take-off and landing with fixed-wing flight for tactical ISR and maritime surveillance. The manufacturer lists more than 12 hours of endurance and communications range up to 180 kilometres, with exact performance depending on the equipment fitted. The aircraft has a 4.12-metre wingspan, approximate 41 kg maximum take-off weight and a 4,000-metre operating ceiling.

Its modular payload bay accommodates mission-specific optical and infrared sensors and communications equipment, while an integrated parachute provides emergency recovery. A two-person crew can transport the system in rugged containers and assemble it in under an hour. The aircraft originated in Edge Autonomy’s portfolio, which Redwire acquired in June 2025 and brought under its brand in January 2026. A June 2026 contract covers aircraft for Taiwan Coast Guard maritime-security missions; it establishes an order rather than completed operational use.
