Praxis-1

About

About Praxis-1

Praxis-1 is Runway's generalist robot-policy model, built by extending video-model pretraining into physical action. It learns visual and physical structure from large video datasets, then uses robot-specific fine-tuning to produce actions for particular embodiments. Runway's demonstrations include placing objects into containers, handling cluttered tableware and picking a book after a mobile robot approaches a shelf.

Early testing spans Noble Machines' bimanual hardware, Standard Bots' RO1 six-axis arm and an Ultra mobile base. These are partner evaluation configurations, with each setup adapted to its own hardware. Runway is working with selected partners before a planned public open-weight release; the weights are not yet generally downloadable. Robotics access is arranged through Runway's team, separately from its creative-video subscriptions and enterprise media tools.

Timeline

  • Runway introduces Praxis-1 world action model for real robots

2026-09-30 - Research Publication - Noble Machines, Standard Bots and Ultra are testing the model on their hardware, including the Standard Bots RO1 arm. The model learns robot actions from large-scale video pretraining combined with robot interaction data. Public weights are planned in the coming months, following the pre-launch partner programme.
