Autonomous Ocean Core

Saab Autonomous Ocean Core is a vessel-agnostic control system that provides baseline autonomy and vessel control for small and medium surface or subsurface craft. Its open architecture connects to propulsion, driveline and vessel automation, allowing installation on new uncrewed platforms or retrofit to existing vessels. Additional Saab or third-party mission capabilities can be integrated above the protected control and safety layer.

The system combines onboard control, a remote control centre and fleet management for networked units. Mission-point, vector, direct and position-hold manoeuvre modes cover transit, precise handling and fallback control, while operational safety modes change supervision and performance limits. Actual mission capability depends on the host vessel, payloads, integration, communications, rules of operation and certified safety case; the software platform itself is not a vessel.
