AUV62-MR conducts autonomous mine reconnaissance and seabed survey while keeping personnel and host vessels away from the searched area. Saab's modular vehicle can carry a dual-sided synthetic-aperture-sonar payload, process sonar data onboard and follow planned routes with different levels of operator interaction. Payload, energy, buoyancy and propulsion modules can be exchanged to prepare it for bathymetry, infrastructure monitoring, environmental sensing or other underwater assignments.

Current product specifications list a six-metre length, 53-centimetre diameter, approximate 900-kilogram mass and operating depth to 300 metres. Speed reaches 12 knots, while endurance is stated as 18 hours at three knots. Surfaced communications use WLAN, VHF or satellite links; a hydro-acoustic link serves submerged operation. Coverage and image quality depend on sonar settings, navigation accuracy, seabed conditions, speed, launch platform and mission planning.
