TA15 Autonomous Electric Hauler

TA15 Autonomous Electric Hauler is a cabless battery-electric load carrier developed for Volvo Autonomous Solutions' TARA haulage system. The vehicle carries up to 15 tonnes and combines GPS, lidar, radar and onboard vehicle sensing to follow predefined off-road routes. Fleet coordination allows multiple units to move material around confined mines, quarries and industrial sites while charging and traffic management are handled at system level.

Volvo developed TA15 as one element of TARA, combining vehicles, autonomy software, charging equipment and site infrastructure in a transport-as-a-service model. The programme grew from Volvo's Electric Site research and was included in the ELMAR project for electrified and automated raw-material extraction. TA15 remained the small-hauler platform for TARA as Volvo Autonomous Solutions expanded its off-road work to larger production vehicles.
