About
About Lunar Outpost
Lunar Outpost develops robotic mobility for lunar science, commerce and human exploration. The compact Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform carries multiple payloads for mapping, resource detection, imagery and surface analysis, with configurations designed for rugged terrain and customer-booked mobility services.
Its larger vehicle programme includes Pegasus, a crewed or remotely operated Lunar Terrain Vehicle selected by NASA for Artemis surface mobility. Pegasus builds on MAPP missions and seven full-scale Eagle prototypes, with General Motors, Goodyear, MDA Space and Leidos contributing vehicle, tyre, robotics and systems expertise. The company is targeting delivery of a mission-ready vehicle to NASA in 2027.

Events
- 2026-09-01 - Contract Award - AEye Apollo selected for Lunar Outpost Pegasus vehicle
Pegasus is being developed to transport Artemis astronauts across the lunar surface under NASA's Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services programme. Apollo is intended to support terrain perception, obstacle detection and autonomous navigation in lunar operating conditions. The award extends AEye's commercial lidar work beyond automotive, defence and industrial applications into space mobility.
Source - 2026-06-16 - Contract Award - NUVIEW consortium selected for ESA Moonraker lunar LiDAR study
Moonraker will study orbital LiDAR mapping of lunar poles, landing sites and surface hazards. Lunar Outpost Europe leads thermal design and model-based systems engineering within the consortium. The mapping concept is intended to support autonomous landings, rover traversal and future surface missions.
Source - 2026-05-26 - Contract Award - NASA selects Lunar Outpost Pegasus LTV for $220M Moon mobility task order
NASA awarded Lunar Outpost $220 million to build and deliver the first phase of lunar terrain vehicles under LTVS. Pegasus is designed for crewed and uncrewed lunar surface mobility, including manual, autonomous and teleoperated driving. NASA said the vehicle supports Moon Base operations such as terrain characterization, material movement, resource prospecting, site preparation and astronaut transport.
Source - 2026-05-07 - Funding - Lunar Outpost raises $30M Series B for space robotics platforms
Lunar Outpost raised a $30 million Series B led by Industrious Ventures. The company said the capital will accelerate robotics and mobility platforms across a multi-year lunar and cislunar mission manifest. Lunar Outpost has eight contracted missions and is investing in Starweave autonomous swarm software and Stargate C3 infrastructure.
Source - 2025-03-06 - Capability - Lunar Outpost MAPP rover reaches lunar surface on IM-2
MAPP reached the lunar surface as part of Lunar Outpost's Lunar Voyage 1 mission. The rover carried Nokia lunar cellular-network hardware. The lander came to rest off-nominally and MAPP was not deployed to drive across the surface.
Source - 2024-04-03 - Contract Award - NASA selects Lunar Outpost for LTV feasibility study
NASA selected Lunar Outpost as one of three companies to advance Lunar Terrain Vehicle concepts for Artemis. Lunar Outpost leads the Lunar Dawn team with partners including General Motors, Goodyear, MDA Space, and Leidos. The LTV work targets crewed and remotely operated lunar mobility for Artemis surface missions.

Notes
Profile notes
- Lunar Outpost’s first rover reached the Moon but never deployed after its lander tipped over
reviewed 2026-07-20 - Lunar Outpost’s MAPP rover reached the lunar surface aboard Intuitive Machines’ Athena lander in March 2025, but the lander came to rest on its side and MAPP was not deployed. The company’s later rover programmes continue, yet the first mission provides surface-delivery heritage rather than evidence that the rover drove or completed its planned exploration work.
