About
About Trillium Engineering
Trillium Engineering designs stabilised electro-optical payloads for uncrewed aircraft and other mobile platforms. Its gimbals combine daylight, infrared and optional laser sensors with onboard video processing for surveillance, mapping, inspection and targeting.
Product families scale from compact payloads for small drones to longer-range multi-sensor systems, balancing aperture, weight and pointing performance. Electronics stabilise imagery, track objects and expose video and metadata to aircraft mission computers. Trillium manufactures and tests the payloads in Oregon and supports integration with government, civil and commercial airframes.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-03-15 - Product Launch - Trillium makes GD-Loc available onboard HD59 and HD40-LVV
The update removes the need for an external Clarity processor. Trillium claims CAT-1 geolocation in GPS-denied environments. Processing runs within the payload, reducing the number of components required for integration.
Source - 2026-02-03 - Contract Award - Trillium HD40-LVV payload selected for U.S. Army ISR missions
AeroVironment received the $13.2 million contract for the P550 aircraft system. The aircraft are to be delivered for U.S. Army testing and evaluation. HD40-LVV provides the imaging payload for the Long Range Reconnaissance program.
Source - 2025-10-09 - Partnership - Trillium integrates HD59-MLVS-LD payload onto AeroVironment Puma LE
The integration pairs the payload with AeroVironment’s man-portable Group 2 aircraft. The announced payload combines a 64-megapixel visible camera with mid-wave and short-wave infrared sensors. Its integrated laser designator complies with STANAG 3733.
Source - 2025-09-22 - Product Launch - Trillium releases HD59 lightweight AI-enabled gimbals for UAS and launched effects
The launch introduces LLVV, MLVV and MLVS configurations with different visible and infrared sensor combinations. MLVS combines mid-wave, long-wave, visible and short-wave infrared sensing, with a laser-designator configuration. Trillium planned to display the complete series at the 2025 AUSA Annual Meeting.
Source - 2025-08-22 - Demonstration - U.S. Marines trial long-range UAS integrated with Trillium HD40-LVV
The evaluation examined endurance, range, noise signature and ease of deployment. The article identifies HD40-LVV as the imaging payload used in the trials. Aircraft models, fleet quantities and a subsequent procurement commitment were not disclosed.
Source - 2025-06-16 - Partnership - Safran and Trillium partner on compact electro-optical payload systems
Safran Electronics & Defense and Trillium Engineering announced an international partnership at Paris Air Show 2025. The collaboration expands Safran's Artis electro-optical solutions range with compact stabilized camera turrets from 2 to 25 inches. The agreement places Trillium imaging systems inside a larger electro-optical payload portfolio for unmanned and defense platforms.
Source - 2025-03-04 - Commercial Order - Trillium HD80-MVS-LD selected for AeroVironment JUMP 20 systems delivered to Denmark
The payload combines high-definition electro-optical and infrared sensors with laser designation and precision geolocation for Group 3 VTOL ISR missions. The integrated configuration is intended to improve target detection, tracking and identification and strengthen situational awareness for Danish Armed Forces operations. The March 4, 2025 disclosure covers payload selection and delivery support; it does not establish a separate new JUMP 20 product model or a production quantity.
