About
About Accerion
Jupiter and Triton look downward at the floor and compare changing surface texture as a vehicle moves. The sensor calculates local displacement independently of wheel rotation, allowing the robot’s navigation system to correct slip and accumulated odometry error without installing magnetic tape or reflectors.
Jupiter targets higher-performance positioning, while Triton packages the same texture-vision principle into a smaller unit for compact AGVs and AMRs. The modules are integrated into the vehicle’s existing navigation stack rather than replacing its lidar or mapping system, providing an additional motion reference on ordinary industrial floors.

Events
- 2025-01-27 - Acquisition - SICK acquires Accerion to expand AMR localization portfolio
SICK acquired Dutch startup Accerion, a specialist in AI-based image processing for mobile-robot positioning. Accerion's Triton system provides infrastructure-free localization for autonomous mobile robots using floor-reference camera technology. SICK said the Accerion team and portfolio transitioned into SICK Accerion B.V. in Venlo, Netherlands.
Source - 2022-12-07 - Partnership - Accerion and SICK combine Triton with LiDAR-LOC for AMR localization
The combined solution targeted fast AMR and AGV commissioning in large or dynamic environments. The integration paired floor-structure localization from Triton with LiDAR SLAM from SICK LiDAR-LOC. The joint approach supported docking accuracy, fast initialization, ramps and long-corridor navigation.
Source - 2021-05-04 - Commercial Order - KuMaTech uses Accerion sensor technology in AGV family
KuMaTech's AGV line included Accerion sensor technology, safety scanners and automatic charging. The vehicles were positioned for internal logistics automation with modular designs and up to 1,000 kg payload capacity. The customer reference showed Accerion localization technology moving into AGV supplier programs.
Source - 2021-05-03 - Partnership - KUKA adopts Accerion Triton as standard option for omniMove AGVs
Triton replaced optical line guidance for selected KUKA omniMove positioning applications. KUKA cited Triton's maturity, robustness and ease of integration for AGV localization. The partnership positioned Accerion as a mobile-robot positioning supplier to an established industrial-robot manufacturer.
Source - 2020-09-18 - Deployment - PAL Robotics tests TIAGo delivery robots in Barcelona hospitals
The trials took place at Hospital Municipal of Badalona and Hospital Clínic Barcelona. A conveyor moved food trays to isolated patients, while a coded safe restricted access to medicines and other sensitive goods. Accerion’s Triton floor-sensing camera supported navigation through narrow, populated hospital corridors.
Source - 2020-04-16 - Demonstration - Clearpath integrates Accerion positioning for precise mobile-robot navigation
Accerion’s optical positioning system scans the floor while the robot moves, measuring pure displacement to deliver submillimeter-level accuracy and high speed without special floor infrastructure. The system was integrated with Clearpath’s Jackal UGV, which Accerion used daily in its labs for development, testing and customer demonstrations. Accerion’s Jupiter and Triton models support all-in-one or add-on positioning, while its virtual line-following approach lets robots change routes without physically painted lines; the source also cites a U.S. packaging customer using Jackal robots.
