Wind River
About
About Wind River
Wind River supplies embedded software infrastructure used inside robots and other safety- or mission-critical machines. VxWorks provides a deterministic real-time operating system for control workloads, while Wind River Linux covers configurable embedded deployments and the Studio toolchain supports development, testing, deployment, monitoring and remote lifecycle management across distributed edge devices.
ROS 2 support on VxWorks lets robotics teams use familiar middleware while retaining real-time scheduling, security and certification-oriented operating-system capabilities. Computer-vision and edge-AI components connect sensor processing to motion and mission applications across industrial, medical, aerospace, defence and automotive programmes. Wind River therefore sits beneath the finished machine, linking processors, drivers, networks and application software; it does not itself manufacture industrial or medical robots.
