Maine Maritime Academy added hands-on training with Sea Machines’ SM300 autonomous-vessel control system under a MARAD-supported programme.

  • The academy’s 41-foot R/V Quickwater workboat was to receive the SM300 and a shoreside command station.
  • Cadets would operate the vessel around Castine Harbor while measuring emissions, efficiency and safety performance.
  • The trials were designed to produce operational data for MARAD’s Maritime Environmental and Technical Assistance programme.
