About Volvo Autonomous Solutions
Volvo Autonomous Solutions is a Volvo Group business area formed in 2020 to develop and commercialise autonomous transport systems. It targets repetitive material flows on defined routes in mines, quarries, industrial sites, ports and logistics corridors. The offering combines vehicles, connectivity, site design, control software, charging and operational support.
The TA15 and TARA programme explored fleets of small, cabless battery-electric haulers for confined sites through a transport-as-a-service model. Volvo Autonomous Solutions also operates larger autonomous haulage systems in mining and quarrying and develops hub-to-hub autonomous freight services. Its operations teams provide planning, uptime management, load recovery, safety procedures and remote support around the vehicles.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-10-05 - Deployment - Volvo and Waabi start Warp customer freight operations between Dallas and Houston
The service brings autonomous capacity into Warp’s less-than-truckload and full-truckload network. Volvo’s Autona / freight ecosystem combines vehicles, driving software, fleet management, terminals, operations and uptime support. Experience from the Dallas–Houston corridor will inform preparation for additional routes.
Source - 2026-09-24 - Production Milestone - Volvo Autonomous Solutions surpasses 3 million tonnes hauled autonomously
The Brønnøy Kalk operation in Norway uses nine autonomous trucks on a five-kilometre quarry-to-crusher route through tunnels and steep inclines. Boliden Garpenberg in Sweden used autonomous trucks to move material for a dam reinforcement project. The customer offer is Autona / earth, which combines autonomy-enabled trucks, Volvo Virtual Driver, fleet management and operating support.
Source - 2026-06-18 - Deployment - Volvo Autonomous Solutions starts AVI-SPL freight operations
The route carries new and end-of-life audio-visual electronics for AVI-SPL between Dallas and Houston. The service operates as a live commercial freight lane for AVI-SPL.
Source - 2026-06-04 - Deployment - Volvo and Boliden complete autonomous Garpenberg dam-haulage project
The autonomous haulage system completed more than 11,000 transport cycles. The programme covered 56,000 kilometres at the operating site. The project used Volvo’s Autona / earth managed autonomous-transport system.
Source - 2026-05-13 - Deployment - Volvo starts Dallas–Houston autonomous freight service for DSV
The initial depot-to-depot phase operates with a safety driver in the vehicle. DSV is integrating the autonomous service into its existing logistics flows. The partners are using the route to build operating experience for additional freight lanes.
Source - 2026-05-03 - Deployment - Volvo and Aurora open autonomous Dallas–Oklahoma City freight route
The programme began supervised autonomous trips five days per week. Freight moves directly to customer facilities rather than only between dedicated terminals. The companies described the launch as an operating route while driverless validation remained in progress.
