About Fairlead
Fairlead was established in 2012 after General Dynamics acquired the ship-repair divisions of Earl Industries. From Portsmouth, Virginia, it now combines modular shipbuilding, ship repair, electrical systems, advanced manufacturing and waterfront infrastructure for U.S. defence and commercial maritime programmes. Its systems division designs power and control products used on submarines, aircraft carriers and unmanned vessels.
The company is also the announced U.S. manufacturing and integration partner for the largest Sierra Nevada Corporation AEGIR unmanned surface vessel variant. That programme is still represented at announced lifecycle status: Fairlead contributes domestic construction and integration capacity, while SNC retains ownership of the AEGIR platform family.
