About
About HAT.tec
HAT.tec develops mission-management software that helps people supervise crewed and uncrewed systems. Its SCALE suite combines sensor, geospatial and tactical information in a shared operating picture, supporting mission planning, live execution and decision-making. The company also develops onboard autonomy and assistance software for customer-specific systems, alongside engineering and integration services.
SCALE can be adapted to aircraft, control centres and other operational platforms. In the Bavarian Police's Airbus H145 fleet, it consolidates information on a cockpit display so operators can focus on mission decisions. A partnership with Project Q connects the HYDRIS orchestration layer to SCALE for multi-domain operations. Founded in 2018 from the Bundeswehr University Munich's Institute of Flight Systems, HAT.tec is based in Neubiberg and builds on research in human-automation integration and multi-vehicle mission planning.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-06-22 - Deployment - HAT.tec SCALE enters the Bavarian Police’s completed H145 fleet
The fleet’s eight helicopters were delivered in stages from 2023, with final handover scheduled for 22 June 2026 in Donauwörth. An Airbus integration displays SCALE on a 17-inch cockpit monitor, combining sensor and platform information in one operating picture. The work involved Airbus Helicopters, HAT.tec, Helsing and the Bavarian Police Helicopter Squadron.
Source - 2026-05-11 - Partnership - Project Q and HAT.tec sign multi-domain defence integration MoU
The integration connects heterogeneous sensor data with mission planning and execution. HYDRIS and SCALE had already demonstrated technical and operational fit in existing projects. The companies framed the MoU as a foundation for long-term joint innovation and coordinated market engagement.
Source - 2026-03-11 - Partnership - HAT.tec integrates Smith Myers ARTEMIS data into SCALE
ARTEMIS detection and geolocation outputs appear alongside other aircraft sensor and mission data on a single fused display. The integration removes the need for crews to manage the phone-location system as a separate operational interface. The companies presented the work at VERTICON in Atlanta for airborne law-enforcement and public-safety operations.
