About Aurora Flight Sciences
Aurora Flight Sciences, part of Boeing, develops experimental aircraft, autonomous-flight technology and composite aerostructures from concept through flight testing. Its autonomy teams work across perception, guidance, navigation and control, detect-and-avoid, route planning, multi-vehicle coordination and human-machine interfaces, using simulation, hardware-in-the-loop laboratories and optionally piloted test aircraft.
Current platforms include the battery-powered SKIRON-X and hydrogen-fuel-cell SKIRON-XLE, hybrid VTOL fixed-wing aircraft for long-endurance reconnaissance and rapid payload changes. Centaur supports repeatable autonomy trials in shared airspace, while AACUS demonstrated vehicle-agnostic conversion of a conventional helicopter for autonomous cargo missions and landing-zone selection. Aurora also manufactures composite structures and robotic production systems for Boeing and defence programmes.
