About
About Babcock Australasia
Babcock Australasia is the Adelaide-based regional business of Babcock International Group. It combines defence engineering, systems integration, procurement and equipment support across Australia and New Zealand. Its robotics work includes acquiring, customising and sustaining systems for defence users, alongside evaluating autonomous aircraft for maritime logistics and other remote operations.
Babcock delivered a fleet of SPUR ground robots to the Australian Defence Force in 2025, working with EPE Trusted to Protect; QinetiQ manufactures the platform. The regional business also partners with PteroDynamics on Transwing aircraft opportunities and demonstrated the system to Royal Australian Navy personnel. These delivered and demonstrated systems are distinct from its proposed Western Defence Forge aircraft-manufacturing project. That proposal reached the preferred-anchor-tenant stage in October 2026, with local manufacturing and sustainment still under development.
