About Cambridge Aerospace
Cambridge Aerospace is developing Skyhammer as a compact interceptor system for lower-cost air defence against one-way attack drones and related aerial threats. The interceptor is tube-launched and uses onboard sensing and guidance to close on a target after receiving an initial engagement cue. Skyhammer has a stated range of about 30 kilometres and a maximum speed of roughly 700 kilometres per hour.
Skyhammer is supplied as part of an engagement chain that links the interceptor to external surveillance and command systems. External surveillance and command systems identify the threat and initiate the launch, after which the interceptor’s onboard radar and autonomous terminal guidance support the final approach. The UK Ministry of Defence placed a multi-million-pound order in 2026, with initial systems delivered for evaluation and further trials conducted in Jordan as Cambridge Aerospace moved the design toward operational production.
