Marionette Universal Control System is DCE's reusable control layer for robotic vehicles, bringing operator controls, video, telemetry and vehicle interfaces into a platform that supports remote and autonomous operation. DCE combines that software and electronics architecture with configurable payload integration across its tracked X-Series chassis.
The X3 provides an all-terrain base for equipment used in defence, inspection and hazardous-site work. In September 2026, DCE signed a memorandum with Babcock covering UGV opportunities in the UK and export markets, connecting its vehicle and control technology with Babcock's defence engineering and support organisation.

The collaboration centres on DCE's X-Series UGV, a mid-sized platform carrying 150 to 500 kilogrammes and towing up to three tonnes, and its Marionette Universal Control System, which converts existing vehicles for remote or autonomous operation. The two companies demonstrated the partnership at DVD 2026, integrating Babcock's digital ammunition rack onto an X-Series vehicle to show autonomous resupply of mortar and artillery systems. The MoU covers collaboration across training, integration, logistics, infrastructure and operational support, rather than the acquisition of individual platforms.
