About Hermes Robotics

Hermes Robotics develops an Autonomy Retrofit Kit for existing low-speed vehicles. Its street-sweeping work applies that kit to commercial cleaning trucks, combining vehicle conversion with software for repeating a configured route. The company’s approach lets an operator use the underlying sweeper and cleaning equipment while automating vehicle movement.

Parking-lot development has used mapped paths and obstacle detection, with trucks converted to test autonomous sweeping in business service routines. Hermes describes its street-sweeping offering as a service and remains associated with Y Combinator’s Winter 2021 batch. The retrofit architecture is intended for fleets that want autonomy without replacing the entire vehicle.

Events

  • 2023-09-27 - Demonstration - Hermes Robotics reports autonomous parking-lot sweeper trials

Trials used a NiteHawk Raptor, Masco and Tymco 600, with drivers able to leave the cab while the vehicles followed predefined routes. The team said mapping and setting up a new parking lot took a few hours, with obstacle detection stopping the vehicle for objects in its path. The proposed six-to-twelve-month beta would waive the hardware fee and delay software charges until testing ended.
