About Maxell
Maxell, Ltd. is a Japanese manufacturer of batteries, electronic components, industrial materials and consumer systems. Within its industrial battery portfolio, ceramic-packaged all-solid-state cells and assembled power modules provide backup energy for servo encoders, controllers and factory equipment that must retain position data through power loss or operate at elevated temperatures.
Nikon uses the PSB401010H cell in its MAR-M700MFA multi-turn absolute encoder, where reflow mounting and operation at temperatures up to 105 degrees Celsius support compact installation. Subaru began evaluating Maxell modules in industrial robots at its Gunma manufacturing site in August 2025, followed by a Kyocera trial in industrial robots and controllers at the Kagoshima Kokubu plant. Together, these applications place Maxell’s battery technology inside robot-control and factory-automation power architectures.

Test operations began in December 2025 at Kyocera’s Kagoshima Sendai semiconductor-ceramic-package plant. The installed power modules use Maxell’s rechargeable PSB401010H all-solid-state battery in industrial robots and controllers. Kyocera will use the factory tests to assess wider adoption aimed at reducing battery replacement, maintenance and industrial waste.
