About Tekscan
Tekscan develops thin-film force, pressure and tactile sensing systems used in robotic balance, grip and contact measurement. FlexiForce sensors fit between contacting surfaces or inside compact mechanisms, converting applied force into an electrical signal for a robot controller or test system. Standard sensors support prototyping, while custom shapes, force ranges and electrical characteristics allow integration into production devices.
Robotic applications include foot-pressure feedback for humanoid balance, grip-force control in industrial end effectors and tactile feedback in medical instruments. The sensors can detect initial contact, quantify load distribution and help prevent damage to fragile parts such as semiconductor wafers. Tekscan pairs the sensing film with development electronics and analysis software, manufactures at its ISO 9001-compliant and ISO 13485-registered headquarters, and performs factory inspection on its FlexiForce products.
