XELA Robotics develops tactile sensing for robot hands, grippers and contact-rich automation. Its uSkin modules arrange multiple sensing points across fingers, palms or custom surfaces, measuring forces in three axes so a controller can distinguish normal pressure from shear generated as an object shifts across the skin.

The soft sensing layer produces digital output and can be shaped around a customer's robot geometry and wiring constraints. uAi software visualises readings in real time, separates contact regions, calculates contact centres and can convert calibrated output into newtons. Engineers use the system for grasp control, manipulation research, teleoperation and industrial handling, with recorded tactile data also supporting development of learned contact and slip responses.
