• 2026-07-16 - Partnership - Vertical Aerospace and Near Earth sign Valo autonomy MOU

  The intended integration would combine Near Earth autonomous-flight products with Valo’s Honeywell Anthem digital cockpit. The parties plan to pursue near-term uncrewed defence opportunities and a longer-term roadmap for increasingly automated commercial operations. The agreement is an MOU and the integration, certification and future commercial use remain forward-looking.

  Astronics will provide power-conversion and distribution hardware that converts propulsion-architecture high voltage into low-voltage power for avionics, flight controls and other essential systems. CorePower hardware already flies on Vertical's piloted test aircraft and is designed to provide compact, fault-protected power while reducing certification and integration risk. The long-term supply agreement supports Valo through Critical Design Review, certification-conforming aircraft production and eventual entry into service.

  Evolito and Vertical plan to certify the propulsion units with the UK Civil Aviation Authority and EASA. The selection adds Evolito to a Valo supplier group that includes Honeywell, Syensqo and Aciturri. Evolito’s axial-flux motor architecture was developed for high power density and aerospace certification.

  Vertical identified Aciturri, Honeywell and Syensqo as aerospace partners collaborating on development of the Valo aircraft. Valo succeeds the VX4 prototype with a redesigned aerodynamic airframe, under-floor batteries, new wing and propeller architecture and certifiable redundancy. Vertical plans to build seven certification aircraft and is targeting UK and European type certification in 2028 before commercial service.

  Syensqo will supply high-performance composite and adhesive materials across the entire VX4 structure; the materials were already used in Vertical prototypes. Vertical said the materials provide lightweight strength, structural efficiency and durability for repeated high-cycle electric-flight operations. The long-term agreement supports certification and industrialisation; Vertical is targeting certification in 2028, while Aciturri is responsible for manufacturing the airframe.

• 2024-07-18 - Product Launch - Vertical unveils advanced VX4 prototype with strategic supplier systems

  Vertical said 60% of the prototype's technology came from strategic partners including GKN Aerospace, Hanwha, Honeywell, Leonardo, Molicel and Syensqo. The prototype introduced Vertical's proprietary battery technology and a 20% higher power-to-weight ratio, with a target cruise speed of up to 150 mph. Vertical planned to begin the flight-test programme after receiving a UK Civil Aviation Authority Permit to Fly.
