About
About Wachendorff Automation
Wachendorff Automation combines rotary sensing technology with mechanical arrangements for measuring movement. Its draw-wire systems use a precision cable connected to an encoder: movement of the cable is converted into a position signal. The assemblies arrive with the encoder mounted and can fit confined installations, including mobile-hydraulic equipment.
The company’s magnetic absolute encoders use separate technologies for position within a turn and tracking multiple revolutions. Its broader configuration options let machine builders match the mechanical connection, signal interface and measurement behaviour to the installation. Wachendorff also supports replacement selection for discontinued or difficult-to-source encoders, connecting its standard product range with the practical task of maintaining existing automation equipment.

Wachendorff announced the NFC-configurable WDGN encoder on May 19, 2023. The interface replaces dedicated adapter cables and parameter boxes during machine setup. Engineers can write pulse-count and signal settings from a mobile device, simplifying commissioning and field adjustment.
Source - 2022-09-01 - Product Launch - Wachendorff adds EtherNet/IP to universal encoder
Wachendorff announced EtherNet/IP support on September 1, 2022. The universal encoder platform already supported PROFINET and EtherCAT through loadable protocol configurations. The WDGA58F package reduced installation depth to 46.5 millimetres for space-constrained automated machinery.
Source - 2021-03-15 - Product Launch - Wachendorff launches compact LMSCA measurement system
Wachendorff launched LMSCA on March 15, 2021. The 120-millimetre assembly combines adjustable contact pressure with WDGP encoders and 200-millimetre measuring wheels. Configured systems can reach 0.0125-millimetre-per-pulse resolution for constrained machine installations.
Source - 2021-02-15 - Product Launch - Wachendorff releases freely configurable WDGP encoders
Wachendorff announced the configurable WDGP series on February 15, 2021. Customers can specify any pulse count from one to 16,384 pulses per revolution plus a configurable zero pulse. Compact 36- and 58-millimetre versions target high-resolution position feedback in constrained industrial and mobile applications.
Source - 2020-03-30 - Product Launch - Wachendorff launches WDGR redundant encoder family
Wachendorff launched the WDGR family on March 30, 2020. The design combines independent optical and magnetic measurement channels with separate power supplies. The architecture targets higher diagnostic coverage in machinery, mobile equipment and automation without requiring a single SIL-certified encoder.
Source - 2018-09-27 - Market Signal - Wachendorff marks forty years of automation engineering
Wachendorff marked its fortieth anniversary on September 27, 2018. The business began in the Wachendorff family home in Johannisberg in 1978 and moved to Industriestrasse 7 in 1987. By the anniversary, the group had acquired adjoining expansion land and built an international technical-distributor network.
