About Zeabuz
Zeabuz emerged from the autonomous-marine research community in Trondheim and develops a modular navigation stack for existing and new vessels. ZEAMATE provides onboard intelligent navigation, ZEAWATCH supports remote supervisory control, and ZEACONTROL provides the operator interface. The software combines situational awareness, motion planning, collision avoidance and vessel control rather than requiring Zeabuz to manufacture every host vessel.
The company first demonstrated its technology through small autonomous urban passenger ferries and now addresses urban and road ferries, workboats, defence and security, and aquaculture. Its Trondheim headquarters is supported by offices in Oslo and Stockholm. The earlier LUCID camera integration remains an historical product-family supply fact rather than a statement about current standard hardware.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-09-29 - Deployment - Zeabuz Virtual Cable Ferry enters operation on Åland’s Simskäla route
Commissioning proceeded without interrupting the ferry’s regular operations. A single button starts a crossing, with the system managing navigation for consistent timing and energy use. Current regulations still require the physical cable; future cable-free operations depend on regulatory changes.
