About
About ALLEX
ALLEX is WIRobotics' general-purpose humanoid upper-body platform for contact-rich manipulation and physical interaction. Its arms, hands, neck and waist combine compliant control with highly backdrivable actuation, allowing the structure to react to contact and impact. The current configuration has no lower body; its focus is coordinated upper-body movement and handling.
High-degree-of-freedom hands combine finger and wrist movement, with a stated capacity above three kilograms in one hand and fingertip repeatability within half a millimetre. Low-friction actuators and a gravity-compensating waist mechanism reduce resistance during interaction. Force control is central to the design, including detection of small applied loads without separate force sensors. WIRobotics is developing the platform to connect dexterous movement, compliant contact and physical-AI control in real-world manipulation.
