Walker II

About

About Walker II

Walker II is DroidUp's bipedal humanoid for research, education and visitor-facing service. Its modular body combines tendon transmission with distributed electric motors, allowing the controller to vary joint stiffness during movement. The robot stands 1.7 metres tall and has two arms for handling objects while walking through environments designed for people.

The control system combines model-predictive control with reinforcement learning. Vision and audio sensing support interaction, mapping and movement, while onboard and cloud computing provide different processing resources. DroidUp offers the platform by enquiry and describes uses in reception, guided visits, security inspection and educational programmes. Walker II is the separately named second Walker model, with its own hardware ratings and application material.
