About MUTT XM
MUTT XM is General Dynamics Land Systems’ next-generation 8×8 unmanned ground vehicle, extending the architecture and mobility technology fielded through the U.S. Army’s S-MET programme. The development-stage platform uses a hybrid-electric powertrain and is described as increasing mobility, power generation, payload capacity and ground speed over the current MUTT-derived vehicle. Soldiers can control it with a handheld remote or use a dismount-following tether.
The modular deck is intended to carry squad equipment, resupply loads, sensors, communications equipment, electronic-warfare systems and future weapon stations. Its electrical architecture can export power to onboard electronics and mission payloads. GDLS positions the vehicle for logistics, patrol and extended missions where carrying supplies or powered equipment reduces the physical load on dismounted troops.
