Limelight 4
About
About Limelight 4
Limelight 4 integrates a global-shutter monochrome imager, ARM64 computer, inertial measurement unit and LimelightOS for onboard robot perception. Teams configure colour, AprilTag and neural-network pipelines through a browser interface or add Python processing. The built-in IMU feeds MegaTag localisation, while REST, WebSocket, Modbus and NetworkTables interfaces pass detections and pose estimates to the robot controller.
Its revised power stage accepts 3.3 to 24 volts and does not support Power over Ethernet. CPU-based MobileNet detection is listed at 20 frames per second. An optional, separately purchased Hailo-8 accelerator adds 26 TOPS and supports YOLOv8 detection at 80 frames per second; Google Coral is unsupported. Camera calibration, exposure, target geometry, tag layout, network timing and downstream control logic determine the accuracy and usefulness of the resulting measurements.

Timeline
- Limelight Vision launches Limelight 4 with optional Hailo acceleration
2025-01-09 - Product Launch - Limelight 4 combines global-shutter and colour cameras with an integrated IMU for robot localization and vision workflows. A separately purchased Hailo-8 or Hailo-8L module can add accelerated neural object detection; the accelerator is supported but is not included in the base unit. The platform supports object detection, segmentation and 3D robot localization through Limelight’s low-code and zero-code software workflows.
