ZY-MD-50MM is a 250-gram foldable micro-aircraft measuring 50 millimetres in diameter and 215 millimetres long. It can be hand launched, mechanically launched, dropped from another aircraft or released from a container, then unfold and fly for approximately 40 minutes unloaded or 20 minutes with a 100-gram payload.

The aircraft supports path planning, coordinated swarm operation and navigation when satellite signals are unavailable. Payload options include compact electro-optical sensing and communications relay equipment, while the manufacturer lists a ten-kilometre operating range and maximum speed of 15 metres per second. Its size and deployment methods suit distributed reconnaissance and close field observation.
