About Merops

Merops is a mobile counter-drone system that combines a truck-mounted launch installation with small interceptor aircraft. Perennial Autonomy, formerly Project Eagle, developed the platform for defending personnel and facilities against unmanned aerial threats. Its transportable ground equipment allows the defensive system to move between locations.

The U.S. Army procured an initial fifty systems for experimentation and operational use in Poland and Romania. By May 2026, U.S., Polish and Romanian forces were fielding and training with Merops, following its use in Ukraine. The Army also identified it as a candidate for transition into a sustained acquisition programme.

The purchase followed Merops deployments and training with Polish and Romanian forces along NATO's eastern flank. Perennial confirmed Merops can intercept Shahed, Gerbera and similar targets, giving the product a clear NATO procurement signal outside the U.S. contract.
