Float

About

About Float

Float is a MOBY-branded surface prototype from an earlier stage of the company’s marine-robot development. Its low-profile circular hull places protected equipment inside a buoyant perimeter, giving the platform a different form and operating role from the company’s deep-sea survey and collection vehicles.

MOBY’s current operating architecture uses NEMO for seafloor survey, SCOOBEE for nodule collection, SmartLift for subsea storage and recovery, and the Mineral Production Platform for lifting material to the surface. Float is not a current element of that system and is retained as a legacy prototype, separate from the autonomous riser and recovery platforms.
