About ROCK Ultra

ROCK Ultra is a 1550-nanometre airborne LiDAR payload for large-area drone surveying. It records up to one million points per second with seven returns per pulse, a 90-degree downward field of view and five-millimetre range precision. Measurement range reaches 500 metres on 20-percent-reflectivity targets and 1,000 metres on 80-percent-reflectivity targets.

The sensor weighs 1.21 kilograms alone or 1.40 kilograms with the 26-megapixel camera; a 45-megapixel option is also available. ROCK Ultra mounts on DJI M300 and M350 aircraft, while ROCK Desktop and ROCK Cloud handle field quality checks, PPK processing, storage and mapping deliverables. In 2025, PilotByte operator Dylan Gorman used ROCK Ultra to capture a 133-acre highway interchange in one flight at 115 metres, demonstrating the system in a real survey workflow.
