SCITOS A5
About
About SCITOS A5
SCITOS A5 is MetraLabs' interactive mobile service robot for guiding visitors around museums, exhibitions and other public venues. A touchscreen lets visitors select destinations, and the robot travels to the chosen exhibits before presenting configured information. Its appearance, spoken content and routes can be tailored to the installation.
At the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum in Paderborn, a SCITOS A5 named PETER began service on 12 July 2013. Visitors can select up to eight exhibition stops, with explanations delivered in German or English. Ultrasound, laser and contact sensors detect obstacles and people; the robot diverts or stops when it cannot pass. The museum describes a working day's battery endurance followed by a return to the charging station. These are characteristics of the museum's configured installation.
