Tatum1 translates English into tactile ASL through a human-sized robotic right hand designed for DeafBlind users. Its software rearranges incoming content into ASL grammar, while adjustable speed, grammar, summarisation and haptic settings accommodate individual language preferences. The connected device provides weather and emergency alerts, stories, news, web messaging, time information and camera-assisted calling.

The hand measures 6 × 1 × 5 inches and produces 45 unique signs, with a design life rated at three million cycles. Sixteen tactile buttons, Wi-Fi updates and configurable glove colours form part of the current product. Tatum Robotics supplies setup training and positions the device for households, schools and healthcare environments, where users can personalise communication settings and contacts.
