About Teal 2
Teal 2 is a 1.25 kg quadcopter built around short-range intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Its primary payload is a Teledyne FLIR Hadron 640R combining a radiometric 640 × 512 thermal camera with a visible-light sensor, allowing operators to observe and measure thermal activity in darkness or obscured conditions. Red Cat rates endurance at up to 30 minutes and operating range at about five kilometres.
A single operator carries, assembles and launches the aircraft and receives live imagery through the ground-control system. AES-256 encryption protects the control and video link, while a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor supports onboard functions and later software integration. Teal 2 is NDAA compliant and Blue UAS approved for US government procurement. It remains a fielded Red Cat product, although the newer Black Widow platform now leads the company’s current tactical-drone portfolio.
